  • About Cub Scouting
  • Cub Scouts form Dens based on grade level.
  • Dens form a Pack, Tiger though Webelos II/Arrow of Light.
  • Boys or Girls can join scouting at any time, based on their age or grade level.
    • All Cub Scouts must earn the Bobcat Badge First.
    • Achievements from earlier years cannot be earned.
      • i.e. If a child joins as a wolf, they will enjoy all the benefits of scouting but will not be able to earn their tiger badge.
    • Scouts don’t need to earn achievements from earlier years to continue in scouting.
    • A scout could join scouting in fifth grade and could earn his “Arrow of light” Achievement and continue into Boy scouts. 
  • Specifics of Bethany Packs.
    • Family friendly.
      • Siblings are encouraged to join in Pack activities
      • We have a Sibling Division in our Pinewood Derby Race.
      • Additional Fees may be needed to cover cost of some materials for siblings
    • Sponsored by the Springville PTO
    • Most Meetings are normally at Springville or Sato School.
    • We are working with the schools for meeting locations but will be in outdoor areas in September and Oct. Den meetings will be worked out by Den.
    • We are made up of Pack 467 and 926, officially, and serve Springville, Sato, but also cover Jacob Wismer, Bethany, and Rock Creek. As numbers increase we will look to operate as a single pack. Based on interest, this may be sooner rather than later.
  • Service Projects
    • Scouting for food
    • Springville cleanup
    • Volunteer at food bank
    • Individual recognition for service work
  • Fees
    • Pack dues – $200 (subject to change)  Yearly.
      • Pay online application to BSA then dues in November after Wreath sales. Wreath sales, often cover the dues amount.
      • National Membership $84 – Yearly (Included in dues, except when inititially joining)
        • Fee paid by parent when first signing up, then included in dues after initial sign up.
        • Provides BSA Insurance
        • When paid by the Pack, this is called recharter and it is based on the calendar year.
    • Summer camp -$115-$300 (optional, varies by year and summer camp selection)
    • Class A Uniform and Hat ~$40 (The uniform you think of when you think of scouts)
    • Class B Uniform – Den T-Shirt for less formal scout events – Available for purchase.
    • Assistance is available.
  • FUNdraisers
    • Wreath sales – Often will offset dues and possibly summer camp
    • Popcorn Sales, Spring Candy Sales.  
    • Friends of Scouting
      • The district relies on donations to fund camp and other activities.
      • Donations to Friends of Scouting support the local council and earn our pack items like free BSA property access when camp is not in session
    • Donations can also be made to the BSA national  
  • Pack funds cover
    • Den and pack meeting activities
    • Pinewood derby car.
    • Entrance fees for scouts at all non-camp activities  (unless we do something big like a blazer game)
    • Neckerchief, Slide
    • Patches, beads, belt loops and other earned items.
  • The Pack or your den is what you make of it.
    • You get more out of it than you put in.
    • An excuse to do something with your son.
    • Most of the activities are things you want to do or learn anyway
